Mosquito bites can cause some degree of scarring depending on your skins sensitivity, or your body’s sensitivity to mosquito bites.

While most people who are used to mosquito bites rarely get scars from them, there are some who are especially allergic to mosquito bites. And when these people with mosquito bite allergies get bitten, the swelling can ultimately lead to scarring.

Scarring may occur when you scratch your too much on a mosquito bite and tear your skin. If you have sensitive skin, the scar can become permanent or may not fade away easily. For people who are allergic to mosquitoes can sometimes develop scars as part of their allergic reaction towards the bites. This is also due to how some reactions can lead to sever swelling and inflammation which then causes scarring.

The less inflammation you get the easier for the scar to fade or for the itch to disappear. This is what dermatologist Loretta Ciraldo says on the video. She says, [pullquote]one way to prevent scarring is by treating the bite as soon as possible.[/pullquote]

For fresh mosquito bites, ice can be very helpful. If you can get ice on a mosquito bite sooner, the better it will heal and the less it will itch. The ice will also help in preventing further inflammation on your skin due to the mosquito bite.

After applying the ice on a mosquito bite, you can then apply an over-the-counter medication. Aveeno Anti-Itch Cream, 1% Hydrocortisone, Maximum Strength, 1 Ounce (Pack of 2) are very useful not only for new bites, but also for old bites that have not yet faded. Rub in a small amount of cortisone cream on the affected area and see how they fade slightly. Apply regularly until the itch gone or when the bite marks are faded.

For dark mosquito bites scars, she also suggests using over-the-counter fade cream to lighten scars from mosquito bites.

If you do not want to use cortisone cream you can choose a more natural approach by using natural cocoa butter. It lightens up dark spots your body caused by mosquito bites and gives your skin a healthy glow. If you have lots of scars on your legs from mosquito bites this body lotion is the solution. There are lots of cocoa lotion products out there but what i like about the Vaseline brand cocoa butter is the light, pleasant smell and it rubs on smoothly, not oily like others.

You can also try Organic cocoa butter which is a superb moisturizer and known for its hydrating effects. It’s naturally rich in vitamin e and is very useful to moisturize mosquito bite scar tissue. Perfect to put on areas of your skin like your face, elbows, legs, heels and kneels and other areas.
